Port 2000

Officially opened on 30 March 2006, Port 2000 is a deep-water port dedicated to container traffic and able to handle the world’s biggest container ships 24/7 with no tide constraints.

Terminal de France

  • Dock length: 1,200m in total + 200m for barges,
  • Draught: 15.30m up to 16.30m,
  • Gantries: 10 Super Post-Panamax + 4 ZPMC and 3 rail gantries,
  • Area: 71 hectares,
  • Straddle carriers: 71,
  • Reefer plugs: 900,
  • Direct connection to the rail network and access to river and maritime barges,
  • Annual capacity: 1.3m TEU.

Terminal Porte Océane

  • Dock length: 700m,
  • Draught: 15.30m up to 16.30m,
  • Gantries: 4 Super Post-Panamax + 1 Over-Panamax,
  • Area: 36 hectares,
  • Straddle carriers: 24,
  • Reefer plugs: 500,
  • Rail connections (3 rail lines + link to the multimodal terminal’s shuttle) and access to river and maritime barges,
  • Annual capacity: 550,000 TEU.

Terminal de Normandie - MSC

  • Dock length: 1,400m,
  • Draught: 15.30m up to 16.30m,
  • Gantries: 5 Super-Panamax + 1 Over-Panamax,
  • Area: 72 hectares,
  • Straddle carriers: 50,
  • Reefer plugs: 600,
  • Rail connections (3 rail lines + link to the multimodal terminal’s shuttle) and access to river and maritime barges,
  • Annual capacity: 1.5m TEU.

The history of Port 2000:

  • 1995: Jacques Chirac, then President of the Republic, declares Port 2000 to be a “project in the national interest”.
  • 1997: launch of the public consultation debate.
  • 2001: start of construction works phase 1.
  • 2005: end of phase 1 and entry into service of the first four berths.
  • 30 March 2006: Port 2000 is officially opened;
  • 2007: start of construction phase 2;
  • 2010: end of phase 2 and entry into service of the next six berths;
  • 2019 to 2023: construction work on berths 11 and 12 - phase 3 of Port 2000;
  • 2024: entry into service of the final two berths.
